Amy Scheuerman is a writer, editor, and researcher based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
After years of gathering experience in jobs as varied as grocery store clerk, juice bar attendant, bookstore retailer, restaurant host/prep cook/bookkeeper/forager, administrative assistant, and chemist, Amy realized that food and nutrition were what she was really interested in. She quit her job as head chemist with the Scientific Analytical Institute and began an unpaid internship at Coon Rock Farm. It’s a decision she’s never regretted.
After working at Coon Rock, Amy enrolled in a master’s program at Tufts University’s Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy. While there she achieved her MS in Nutrition and had the pleasure of learning about food, agricultural policy, and nutrition communication from Kathleen Merrigan, Parke Wilde, Tim Griffin, Christian Peters, and Jeanne Goldberg. She headed the publicity committee for the 2009 Future of Food and Nutrition Research Conference, worked as a Teaching Assistant in Nutrition Communication and a Research Assistant for agricultural research, interned with the non-profit organization Mass Farmers Markets and the magazine Edible Boston, and founded the The Friedman Sprout student newspaper.
Amy is currently an assistant editor in the New Media department at America’s Test Kitchen where she works on social media and the America’s Test Kitchen Cooking School. She is also the vice president for the Culinary Guild of New England. Her writing has appeared in Edible Boston Magazine, Friedman Sprout, The Feed, Tufts Nutrition Magazine, and several national newsletters. Please note: I am neither a Registered Dietitian nor a licensed practitioner of nutrition. While I know a great deal about food, agriculture, and nutrition, and even have a masters degree in it, this does not mean the same thing as having an RD credential. Any diet advice you find on this site should be viewed as friendly advice from a knowledgeable person and not as something coming from a medical professional. While eating healthfully is something I love to encourage, you should consult a Registered Dietitian rather than myself if you want to make major changes in your diet.
